If you haven't alread= y = figured it out, she and I will be taking up residence together here in = California in two weeks. (And yes, Slarvi, we met on the Internet --- go= = figure . . . !) Anyhoo, it seems the group is set on Barbara's design for the front of th= e = t-shirt, with Paul's "Tour Cities" on the back. Looks like a concensus t= o = me, at least, as I am not hearing any serious dissension at this time (th= ank = Ford!). So, two things must be done before we may proceed: 1) We need to find an ORIGINAL of the photo Barbara has used so we may= = obtain a 300 dpi scan of it in either EPS, JPEG, or TIFF format. Using t= his = image for the shirt depends on our ability to come up with this scan at t= hat = resolution, so let's get scrambling! Put out an A.P.B. to anyone you can= = think of that might have it. 2) Paul, I am charging you with the design of the Tour Cities layout,= so = put on your thinking cap and produce something which appeals to you. I w= ould = like to receive it in MS-Word 6.0 (or earlier) format for PC, if you plea= se. Ok, that's enough from the Shirt-Nazi. [Good luck, Alloy. Should you, o= r = any of your force be captured or killed, the IMF will disavow any knowled= ge = of your actions.] I'll be back online Wednesday, August 13. Also, on our last trip to Slovenia, we visited the village of Podcetrtek, which means literally "under Thursday." Our friends there had no idea where that name came from. B'day project name: I've liked "Amateurs and Heretics" and "The Flat Note" - -- and just about anything off of Lee's list, which about made me laugh even harder than Crackers' dreams (thanks for the uplift, guys). Meeting netfriends: Well, my husband and I are getting on a plane tomorrow morning to be reunited with some of our best friends on the planet, who just happen to be about half a planet away. This is the result of a long and productive research collaboration -- over the Internet -- between a professor at the University of Maribor in Slovenia and myself. He and I had written a couple of papers together using e-mail and FTP before I was finally able to make my first working visit. Since then, we've written several other papers, but more importantly, we discovered that he and his wife and my husband and I were just about the most totally compatible people you could imagine. So I guess you could consider us an Internet success story. (Of course, this was more like meeting a net-coworker than a net-friend, so your results may vary. Also, it can be sort of a pain to have people you care so much about be so far away...) And finally, to answer Paul's question: no, during the accident with the soda can, I was not humming the line about "there's a spirit that won't be broken" -- but then, it didn't break my spirit, just fractured a knuckle. (It's a long story.)
