I used to tape a car to the tone-arm and let it run on the rubber mat (when parents weren't watching, naturally) so the wheels spun as if it was travelling at high speed. They way I did it meant that the wheels were spinning in reverse, but that didn't seem to bother me when I was five. G'day Ian, Welcome aboard! >what is the usual subject matter involved in alloy (is this a dumb one?) Well like I always say, the only silly question is the one that goes unasked. Alloy was set up 2 Feb 96 as a bit of a defacto Thomas Dolby fan list. It started out as just an interim list to cover the gap between when the original Kaleidospace dolby-list ended and the Flat Earth Society (FES) made their list open. Thanks to the support of the people here though it's grown in to more than that. (GACK!, I've created a monster! :-) If you'd like to know more, you're more than welcome to visit or, of course, ask away here. We're lucky in that we have a really good bunch of people here who contribute regularly, usually about all things Dolby, but as with most good conversation, it meanders a bit which (IMHO) is certainly no bad thing because you get to see sides of people you wouldn't normally see and appreciate them all the more. >and how r u all? Fine thanks, had something in my eye earlier on but okay now. I am sure you will flood me with mail on this one but I welcome it! I pray for it. I think that logic can help me with the quad part and demonstrandum but altogether it's still a mystery a moi. Unfortunately I was unable to access the full sized images of anything *except* Lem Bingley's work. So, Brian and Barbara, please email me the image files from your work directly so I may print them up for the t-shirt project file. I must say, Barbara, that the TMDR b&w photo is very intriguing, and I'm wondering how feasible it might be to reproduce. I would like to show it to our very patient benefactor, Karen Bell of Great Silkie Artwear, to get her opinion. Although you probably already know this, my address is: 71160.307@CompuServe.com And you will likely need to uu-encode or mime-encode the files to get them to me in one (viewable) piece. My friends, it's with a tear in my eye that I write you this note. Tomorrow I start work at my 'other' office and among the many changes that are taking place here, we're having our personal internet mail accounts changed to corporate ones. What exactly this will mean, I'm not yet sure, but my e-mail address may change as a result, and I may have to share my mailbox with other staff, as well as having less opportunity to surf. Therefore I've resubscribed to Alloy from one of my other personal network accounts, in an attempt ensure that I don't drop from sight completely. I'm not sure if this will work, but if I get this message back on BOTH my accounts, I'll know it has, then I can unsubscribe from my existing account (do you need a diagram to follow this?). It will be a difficult time over the next few months, with a change of responsibilites as well as a change of office, though I'll still be doing a lot of the same work. I'll try to keep in touch, and try to get into the FES (or it's successor) as often as possible, so keep an eye out for me.
