Dear Team, Great news from Mr. Dolby, eh? - ----------------------- Dear Thomas, > I hear there's a move afoot to make an Alloy shirt. That's a darned good > idea, and I hope you'll send me one! As If! We'll all be leering to see which color/style you select. Thanks for your approval. This one's on us. First one, that is . . . Additional shirts can be obtained by negotiation. Say, perhaps, a gig in the SF Bay Area . . . That'd be worth a shirt or two . - ----------------------- Dear Lissu (and the Femalloyers), > By the way, sizes M thro XL would be fine for me . . . Show off! Well, maybe not, because a short while later you entreat us to not draw attention to your, er, um, secondary sex characteristics, whilst simultaneously painting provocative images which are, uh, hard to resist attending to . . . Show off! However, point well taken. No eyecatching boob targets, or text that invites unwanted scrutiny of same. Roger that. I'll bring this up with my ladyfriend, Karen Bell, who is producing the shirts, and who I am sure, will udderstand (oops) perfectly and have great sympathy for your concerns. My apologies for not considering this previously. After all, team, we have the whole front of the shirt upon which to paint our dreams. Why not stretch it out a bit? Perhaps, once we have the text entries settled, we could make font suggestions and hand it all over to Karen with the parameters such as Lissu's plaint above, and let her come up with a design which will then be submitted for our approval. Nice to meet you, Lissu! You're on the list. - ----------------------------- Current t-shirt list of good intentions follows. Thank you Paul, for a reasonable mental image to go with that line - it never made much sense to me. I originally mis-heard that lyric as "A dark voice inside her head". Since I'd also mis-heard "a sump started leaking" in the previous verse as "his blood started leaking" it all had me thinking the whole song was about suicide. Thought that for years til I got round to buying the CD which had the lyrics... I don't think the "Fruit Juice Everywhere" is referring to a chunder (surely it'd be "Milk Shake Everywhere" if TMDR were being literal, since that's what he said she drank - and it scans). I think it's just a poetic reference to the fact that her comfort food (the carrot cake etc) doesn't fix her problems - she can consume as much as she likes but it won't help. Just like Dolby driving to take his mind off things in the previous verse doesn't help. We don't take the lines about "triple octane bonds" containing his feelings literally, and we don't expect him to fill *himself* up at a gas station, so why expect this line to be literal? Watch "Peter's Friends" some day.] Hi y'all, This is a roundabout way of me apologising. My primary client, CITEC - a Queensland Govt. IT enterprise, today formally introduced their Internet Usage guidlines. One of the directives outlined effectively prohibits me from being able to access my personal internet email account whilst at work. There's room for interpretation, but since I head up the technical group at their biggest client site, I think I have no choice but to set an example and no longer have my email forwarded to my work account. I don't believe my looking after the list during the day degrades the service I give this client, but as a provider of professional services, I should comply with their wishes. As a result, I'll no longer be able to perform Alloy housekeeping tasks during (Aust) business hours. I'll still be here (with bells on!) but please understand if there's a bit of a delay in my responding to anything you send. I will do my best to respond within 24 hours though. If you do need to get in touch with me quickly, the best bet is to send an email to my hub address (paulb@thehub.com.au) as well as my current work address (Paul.Baily@premiers.qld.gov.au). If you need an immediate response, try calling me on my batphone: +61-411-875-009. That's on during most of my waking hours and diverts to voicemail for the rest of the time.
