Well, our CD collection is in columnar format, so the framing discs are above and below the TMDR discs (I'm sure that's terribly important). I'm almost hesitant to admit it, but my TMDR discs are framed by ELO's "Out of the Blue" album and the Dr. Demento 20th Anniversary Collection. Though, now that I think of it, it is kind of ironic that my GAOW disc, on which "Mr. Dolby rejects science and things scientific," would be directly beneath the only CDs in my collection by an artist who claims a doctorate.... ;-) Cheers, "Weird Beth" Meyer - ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Beth Meyer School of Psychology Pager: +1-404-866-1362 Georgia Institute of Technology FAX: +1-404-894-8905 Atlanta, GA 30332-0170 bmeyer@psy.tfe.gatech.edu http://www.prism.gatech.edu/~gt9020a/ ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 19 May 1997 07:35:50 -0400 (EDT) From: RThurF@aol.com Subject: Re: Alloy: Dolby Framed My Dolby collection is framed by 'The Damned', and 'Don Quixote' by Richard Strauss (baaa) Robin :) ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 19 May 1997 13:04:13 +0100 (BST) From: Bill Hargreaves Subject: Re: Alloy: Dolby Framed My Dolbys are in two collections, vinyl and CD. On the vinyl shelves he's flanked by Dire Straights "Love Over Gold" (which I bought cheap and should have asked for my money back as I was very disappointed with it) and Nick Drake "Bryter Later" which is terribly old but still terribly beautiful, especially on Sundays. I always used to record my vinyl albums on to tape to reduce wear on them, but they were usually recorded as I bought them, so sometimes there's a strange mixture. Of the three Dolbys I have recorded on tape, two are back to back (GAOW and TFF), and AAMB is back to back with Scritti Polliti 'Cupid and Psyche,' which is think is a good match. On the CD rack there's Des'ree on the left (which I bought for my wife ....can't make my mind up about her .... Des'ree that is, not my wife) and Donovan on the right (again another very old waxing, re-released on CD thank goodness as I never did find it on vinyl). You have an extremely good point. With the exception of the fact that they look (as someone here put it) like clean-grunge, but ya can't have everything I suppose. It's not like that single sucks, either.. it was sorta catchy the first 80 times I heard it, and at least they write their own stuff. Unlike the Spice Girls... I just saw the desert video and MAN are those women fugly. I don't suppose they are in real life, but they are made up to be really nasty lookin'. There is some news report about Marilyn Manson -- parents are supposedly getting all bent out of shape. Remember the stupid Kiss hysteria in the 70's? My mom was smarter than to buy into the stories of their satanic worshipping cultishness. I find it rather interesting that parents in 1997 don't realize that Manson's main hook is the ugly look, which makes him more appealing to kids than adults (mostly, imho). I wonder if Thomas likes Marilyn Manson. I wonder if he likes Hanson. Maybe we'll see Thomas' three kids pull a Hanson in another 10 years!
