Just to confirm, I've gotten three requests for additions (two through the Alloy list, one directly), and I plan to add them as soon as I can spare the time. The more, the merrier... I'd love to see a return to the fashions of the 30's and 40's - lots of great overcoats and hats for the men. Great dresses (that I'd look AWFUL in) for the women, and lots of fabulous music and dramatic news on the radio. Sigh. (That's the era and some of the imagery I get in my head when I listen to "Airwaves," BTW.) So, has the Tap Room been shut down for good? It's no longer even an option on the F.E.S. menu. Anyone hip to the situation willing to spill the beans to us groundlings? Cheers, Melissa, now certain that Volkswagen is targeting her specifically as a customer after last night's TRIO "Da Da Da" commercial... - ------------------- Melissa R. Imagine if people started wearing clothes like his again!) Well, there's plenty of 70s cheese that's passing as fashion these days. Please! I escaped that decade with my sanity intact, yet I still have to deal with a new generation that thinks it's cool to wear floods. Urk. I also live in the Korean part of town where the girls all to seem to wear black floods and elevator shoes; frankly, I'm tired of it. ;-) > >Hey, at least they'd be making some kind of effort, you know? Unfortunately a lot of guys, myself included, have to deal with 'What are you dressed up for?' Can't I just feel like it? > I'd love to see a return to the fashions of the 30's and 40's - lots of > great overcoats and hats for the men. Would we really want go back _that_ far? :) Though it sure beats today when shopping at the mall subjects you to people in their pyjamas (not silk!) or sweats. That stuff is for home, people. Whoops! Ah, Omega - you didn't grow up in small town midwestern America, where sweats are considered de rigeur for the busy housewife doin' the mall... it could be worse - I've seen my sisters in New Jersey headed out wearing "dressy sweat suits" with tassels and frills and doo-dads that would make Michael Jackson cringe. I just like the atmospherics of the, well, golden age of wireless, probably from my mom's growing up/coming of age tales of those decades. And the right fedora (shading a devilish face) above the collar of a well-cut trenchcoat makes virtually any man irresistable, truly. :-) - - Melissa - ------------------- Melissa R. About the lowest it gets here is 10deg C/50deg F. I'm a big fan of double-breasted suits myself. Wear them most days into work. No-one takes any notice, but a guy can always hope. :-) Oh and one of my pet peeves is that a lot of guys who wear DB suits don't realise (or don't care) that the jacket is supposed to be done up if you're standing/walking, I mean sheesh, if you're going to do something you should do it right! (I know I know 'picky picky picky...') Oh, yeah, the LP cover from the original US release is one of my favorites! Definitely a big part of the appeal. > > And the right fedora (shading a devilish face) above the collar of a > well-cut trenchcoat makes virtually any man irresistable, truly. :-) You said it, Melissa! Seems every woman I know is a sucker for a man in a trenchcoat. And TMDR looks especially fetching on the photo shoot for the Japanese pressing of the Blinded by Science EP, doncha think (the one where he looks like he's at some Greek ruins)?
