File this one under strange but true... Woke up this morning in the hills above old Hollywood to find that my car had been broken into and 24 of my favorite CD's were stolen from the passenger cockpit. These days I'm more apt to be listening to one of my more recent purchases during the late night drive to my home, but as it goes, the only CD the petty thief left behind was one of the oldest in my collection (and the one in the CD player itself) -- The Flat Earth. I found it rather ironic, considering it is what I normally listen to when in need of comfort or to put myself in a centered state of mind. I am sad to say, however, that the bastard did manage to pick my copy of GAOW. So it goes that deer are not the only restless creatures in these hills come 2-3 A.M. At least I finally have a personal TMDR story (recent) to relate to the newsgroup... I still do it in public sometimes! Can't do my typical '80's gear here in DC. I used to wear a lot of ties and kept my hair at nearly a military buzz cut level. Back then, it was cool - now, if I dress that way, I attract a lot of attention (kind, but misplaced) from gay women. >I only gave it up (blue eyeshadow) last summer...I think I'm a little behind! I'm also one of the clothing-impaired. Can't dress myself to save my life, but I *love* picking out stuff for other people. I saw "Shampoo Guy" (in a Depeche Mode t-shirt and wearing tasteful black eyeliner) in line at the post office yesterday. I told him that I'd shared his affection for Dolby music with Alloy and he was pretty pleased. Said he'd love join the conversation, but he had to make a choice between finishing his hairdressing course and buying a computer, and hair won out. A blow struck for fashion and big hair. The '80's have not died. Cheers, Melissa - ------------------- Melissa R. Jordan - ------------------- Special Projects Manager International Programs Office Goodwill Industries International, Inc. It seems to be a favorite of thieves since I remember reading a review in Melody Maker when it first came out and the writer related the story that his copy was stolen when his apartment was broken into. > > At least I finally have a personal TMDR story (recent) to relate to the > newsgroup... I think you need a better one. Hey, TMDR, are you reading this? If I buy this poor soul another copy and send it to Headspace, would you autograph it to comfort David in his trauma? Maybe they'll pull themselves out of the fashion tar pits, much like the sixties and seventies (have you seen the trailers for that Austin Powers movie?
