Paul asked a few days a go where everyone was. Well my excuse has been work, work, family, work and converting the Rec.Music.Newage Frequently Asked Questions file into a World Wide Web page. Please feel free to have a look at my handiwork. http://www.britax.co.uk/britax/rmn-faq See if you can find why The Flat Earth Society is included as a link! BTW - My office colleague keeps commenting on my behaving more like Prof. Branestorm (children's book character) I'm starting to believe her. I know that a couple of you asked me to look out for certain TMDR releases at the record fair that was here (Salisbury, Wiltshire) a few weeks ago. Unfortunately I mislaid my print-out and so didn't get anything in the end and can't remember who asked for what. However, the following were there and have been for the last two fairs: Close but no Cigar - Double cd single pack Airhead - Maxi cd single Hot Sauce - Maxi cd single I Love you, Goodbye - Cd single Price was between UKP4 and UKP6. If anyone want's me to try and get them let me know as the fairs back again in mid-november. Some of you will regularly dip in to the Flat Earth Society Tap Room for a chat, a pint of Boddington's Bitter and bag of pork scratchings and those who've logged in recently will know that the response has been getting V E R Y S L O W. One or two of us tried mailing Netrex about this, and I tried mailing Clif Bridgen who does (or used to do) the Websmithing, but we just got "address not known" messages in reply. But now the site seems to have collapsed altogether. Although you can enter the Tap Room, all threads give an "SQL Server has gone away" message when accessed. If anyone knows the current whereabouts of Clif, or anyone else who can explain what's happening, or better still, get the site up again, those of us who need our daily fix will be very grateful indeed. Although you can enter >the Tap Room, all threads give an "SQL Server has gone away" message when >accessed. I think I've seen this happen before on the tap room a long while back. I got the impression that all it meant was that someone at the server end needs to restart a process on one of their unix boxes at Netrex. You're right, Clif Brigden is the guy who created all those (excellent) pages and put it all together but he's not involved in the day to day running of the show. I'd suggest trying: Chris van Rensburg or or Kim (sorry Kim, can't recall your surname) Both these guys are really good to talk with and they handle the day to day running of the FES web site including the tap room. ...then again, since all three are subscribers to Alloy (we do subspace feeds to other dimensions at no extra cost ;-) they'll probably be on the case as I type. >If anyone knows the current whereabouts of Clif, or anyone else who can >explain what's happening, or better still, get the site up again, those of >us who need our daily fix will be very grateful indeed. Yes I have to admit I've lurked there quite often of late too. Having a good chuckle at the Professor threads, it's amazing what people will say when their email address isn't attached to their words. :-) For those of you who're curious (and apologies Clif if this was supposed to be a secret) Clif and his wife are currently out in the desert for a week or so to celebrate their first wedding anniversary. Congratulations to you both! stay well, Paul. P.S. Thank you all for the traffic of late, I know the timing is probably just coincidental but it's been really encouraging to see that Alloy isn't just a hammer looking for a nail. I must admit I was beginning to wonder there for a while. Abject apologies to those of you who are waiting for replies from me, I've been a bit under the weather lately, I'll get back to you RSN. ________________________________________________________________________ Paul Baily paulb@powerup.com.au Consulting SE/IT gun for hire Brisbane, Australia There is a spirit here that won't be broken. ------------------------------ End of alloy-digest V1 #63 **************************
