There's another branch up at Camden Lock (Northern Line straight up to Camden Town - Record and Tape Exchange is right across the street from the tube station.) Perhaps not quite as well-appointed as the Notting Hill branch, but I found all sorts of great stuff there. (Also, if you're into fun, funky - but not neccessarily all that cheap - clothes, jewelry, and such, take a wander through the Camden market area. That was one of my fave places as a student in the mid-80's. It was still funky the last time I went through - on my way home after 3 1/2 years in Russia - in 1992.) I recall another cool music shop just off Tottenham Court Road. For the life of me, I can't recall the name, but, if you're headed south on Tottenham Ct. Rd., it's on the right, just north of Oxford Street by one block, on the corner of a little side street. I know those are lame-o directions. At about 3 tomorrow morning, I'll wake up, shouting the store name... Envious of your trip, Melissa J. - ----------------- Melissa R. Walton, swalton@chass.utoronto.ca To: BigAl, alloy@smoe.org hiya, Just thought I would pipe up with some better directions to the tottingham court road store just mentioned (actually, your directions were not too bad). The lane (too small to be propperly called a road, really) is indeed the first road on the west side of the street north of Oxford St. Great Portland Street is opposite it on the east, but knowing London, I'll bet it has another name. There is a pub on the corner and an adult booksore next to that just north of the laneway, but down the lane there are at least 3 used record/CD stores woth a look. The lane meanders for about 100 yds and pops out back on Oxford Street. Enjoy!
