I was just going over some of my old videotapes and found an episode of The Max Headroom Show from its days on Cinemax (not the ABC series). This episode was done in 1986 and featured Tracy Ullman as the main guest. Also on this episode was a comedian named Les Bubb. He did a wacked-out physical routine, choreographed to some heavily altered audiotape (reversed speech/songs, sound effects, etc.). One of the sound clips he used sounded a *lot* like the "yeah yeah yeah!" yell from Europa and the Pirate Twins. Can anyone here confirm this? Curiosity is driving me crazy. // Lee Jackson // ljackson@intex.net // Garland, TX ------------------------------ From: Paul Baily Date: Tue, 6 Aug 96 21:17:43 +1000 Subject: Alloy: [LONG] Hypractv8 thing 1/2 Hi folks, John Neil was kind enough to send me the following response to my "'ere wots this Hypractv8! thing then tosh?" question. I'd already received a copy (as many of you would have) via FES' offical mail list flatearth-l, but I thought I'd follow John's suggestion and post a copy here on Alloy for the benefit of those of you not signed up to both lists. Sounds like it's well worth visiting if you have the access. ..now, how about FES/flatearth-l giving Alloy some advertising airtime? ;-) stay well, Paul. P.S. Saw the thread about FAQs. In case anyone's interested (and it's okay, I won't be offended if you're not :-), the list does still have a separate FAQ available on request and will be part of the mythical Alloy web pages when (if?) they make it to completion and to my ISP's server. Like the list itself, the Alloy FAQ and web pages are intended to only complement the official site: - there is no substitute. :-) - --- cut here --- Paul was wondering about the AOL Hypractv8 thing. Since I'm an AOL guy, and we all Hyperactivate almost daily, I thought it only fair that I reprint the opening mailing from Hypractv8 so we can all see what's up with that. I hope I don't get in trouble for reprinting this (if anything... it promotes AOL). (And yes, it's a FES thing... hopefully it will bring in many, many more wonderful people!!). So here ya go: To quote: "As an honoured member of The Society, you will be sent the latest information about new developements at the Web Site and be the first to be told of Thomas' new releases, appearances, interviews and lectures. We will also be releasing a perodic newsletter which we hope will arrive in your email box just when you need cheering up. Thank you for joining The Flat Earth Society mailing list. We hope your stay with us will be an enjoyable one. Here's the scoop on HYPRactv8! which officially launches on America Online, Monday, July 15. We didn't let it stop us from offering navigable virtual worlds, a web-based trivia game, a nostalgic game, and an experimental multimedia jam session (with a prize for the best players). Plus, we've got boards galore for posting about strategy, new discoveries, whatever's on your mind about electronic games. _____________________________________________________________ Meet Collaborators In Our Kitchen? Go to our Weird Wide Web, and you're only a click away from the Twilight Zone. _____________________________________________________________ Ch-ch-ch-ch-chat Room @ Matrix What offers more of that elusive *instant-gratification* than real real-time interaction with real human beings (and perhaps an extra-terrestrial or two)? Our chat room is open for the conversation of your dreams. And on top of that we'll be adding weekly Town Hall chats dedicated to specific topics of interest. The Auditorium will host major artists, like Thomas himself later this month, and unusual provocative individuals from unexpected disciplines every month. Be sure to check out the posted schedule. It all starts with the Get-Acquainted mixer Tuesday, July 16th.
