Welcome to the Alloy list (in email form). * What's Alloy all about? Alloy is a mailing list with one broad aim in mind: to provide a medium for us to chat about all things Dolby: the work, the history, the behind-the-scenes-peeks, the oh-did-you-knows, and the gentleman himself, Thomas Dolby. Oh, and let's not forget about a certain two dimensional M-class planet either. :-) Alloy's initial intent was to provide an interim open list between the time the dolby-l list at Kaleidospace closed and the official Flat Earth Society list becomes an open list. The companion between the ending of one universe and the beginning of another, if you will. If you're not sure what I mean here, I recommend you take at least one viewing of The Gate To The Mind's Eye video and see me in the morning! Don't be shy! We're a friendly lot here: the only silly question is the one that goes unasked! * How do I reply to an Alloy message? Just hit the reply button and you'll be fine. * There's too many messages! Can I have Alloy in digest form? You most certainly can, just email with the following in the body of the message: UNSUBSCRIBE alloy SUBSCIBE alloy-digest end and of course to switch back, just do the opposite commands. * Is there anything else I need to know? Yes. :-) Oh, details? Well here we go: 1. To get help on commands you can use with the Alloy list, send email to with the body containing the word HELP. Shortly afterwards you'll receive a file detailing the finer points of listserver commands. 2. In order to reduce (hopefully to 0) the number of junk-mail messages you get on this list, we've restricted the list to post messages of 7k or less and to only accept posts from poeple subscribed to the list.
