Now I think she's amazing! Out of curiousity, how old is your "little brother"? Little as in a young kid, or little, as in younger than you? Just wondering who Alanis's fans are. My guess is that most fans are women in their 20s. I, of course, don't fit that profile: male and 40's. I was attracted first to her voice, then to the musical arrangements, then, finally, to the lyrics. > > My favorite songs (currently--I do vary from time to time) are Still and > These are the Thoughts. > Mu favorites are: All I Really Want, I Was Hoping, One. My least favorite are: Try A Little Harder, That I Would Be Good. Some musicians that I am a fan of "can do no wrong." Meaning I love every song, without question, and even if they wrote a bad song I would still love it, just on principle. I feel that way about Heart, for example. But not Alanis. I am a fan yes, but some songs, like the ones above, I just detest so much. A fair-weather fan, I guess. - -- David KoJen http://www.bicnet.net/~scarabe/solisMaris ____________________________________________________________ To unsubscribe send a message to alanis-request@smoe.org with UNSUBSCRIBE as the body of your message. ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 2 Oct 2001 11:07:46 EDT From: JaggdLittleJunke@aol.com Subject: Re: [AMFL] heaven forbid I be criticized solisMaris@bicnet.net wrote: > My guess is that most fans are women in their 20s. i'm a girl, yes... 16, though. have liked alanis for a few years now... at first i started liking her because i thought her music was 'catchy' but then when SFIJ came out, it was all about the music and lyrics. > My least favorite are: Try A Little Harder, That I Would Be Good. never heard of the song 'try a little harder'... ? i'm guessing u mean 'perfect'? - -Liz ____________________________________________________________ To unsubscribe send a message to alanis-request@smoe.org with UNSUBSCRIBE as the body of your message. ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 02 Oct 2001 08:20:37 -0700 From: "Rochelle Morrow" Subject: [AMFL] alanis' fans My little brother is now 22, and I think he still listens to Alanis... >From: David KoJen >Out of curiousity, how old is your "little brother"? I was guessing on the title. I don't know if I am projecting here, but it seems to me that some of the same songs which I don't like, Alanis doesn't like either! Like it sounds to me that her voice is strained on these songs, and she is bored singing it. Perhaps she is singing a song on the advice of an agent or whatever, that she really is not proud of? I hear this in "perfect", and in "that I would be good". Probably my imagination though. Her repertoire is so varied, that there is sure to be something for everyone, conversely, everyone will find at least something not to like. Looking forward to the new CD coming out. But I wonder about Glen Ballard's influence: how important was he to the end result? And how will I feel about this new CD, without his influence? - -- David KoJen http://www.bicnet.net/~scarabe/solisMaris ____________________________________________________________ To unsubscribe send a message to alanis-request@smoe.org with UNSUBSCRIBE as the body of your message. ------------------------------ End of alanis-digest V2 #92 ***************************
