If you got to alanismorissette.com, then the paintbox, then videos, then the video on the bottom left.. its of Alanis making fun of her boyfriend, Dash, dancing. You here someone say "That's so Dash!" Then near the end Alanis says "he always does the head thing" or something like that.. i love it!! - - Dustin Yahoo! My first exposure to Alanis was You Oughta Know, Hand In My Pocket, and Head Over Feet, heard on the radio like everybody else. Hmm I thought. Pleasant enough music, and I like the way she sings. Kinda neat. Enough reason to buy Jagged Little Pill. So I did. But what really, totally blew me away -- although it was not until the third listening -- was when I heard the first song on JLP, All I Really Want, which I had never heard before. This song was amazing. I listened to that song over and over again, fascinated, but also with vague feelings of numbed alarm, or shock even I was feeling. Pretty deep stuff for someone so young, and she expressed it so clearly. I understood. I remember thinking, poor young thing. Then I realized she's speaking about all of us, really. I felt her pain and I was filled with admiration over the craftsmanship -- the sheer perfection in this song. The musical arrangement is so fiercely driven, Alanis's amazing vocal delivery is so matched to the angry, overwhelmed tone of the lyrics; these things just sent this song to the top of my personal charts -- I was hooked, no doubt. I remember thinking, this woman is really going to go places, musically!
