First of all, welcome y'all. :-) We had a good start Monday with a half-dozen or so posts when this list only had maybe 18 signed up at the time, but she's been plum dry of posts since then. We now have about 50 here now, and I am sure it will slowly grow. Anyhoots, I just read an Entertainment Weekly article (Will Smith/Halle Berry cover) about how tourism at Graceland is dropping faster than K-Mart stock and they even had to layoff 50 of the 350 full-timers they had. They realize they have to somehow get the X and Y Generation onto Elvis as his core fans are all buying Magnivision reading glasses and paying more attention to Metamucil ads and will "leaving the building" (so to speak) over the next 25 years or so. So...they decided they are going to pull a "Beatles 1" and this fall they are gong to release an Elvis CD (one disc) consisting soley of 30 of his #1 hits. (Like Beatles 1, I figure it will have to include songs that hit #1 overseas and NOT in the USA, as he only had 18 stateside #1 hits according to a Billboard book I have). I myself wasn't a huge fan of his, buth there's enough of his #1 hits that I liked alot and I will assuredly buy this CD. I hope it works and many youngin's buy it too. Whaddya all think? If ya don't think, what do you think about? Let's get this list rolling!
