The latter is the only way one can make it to 12! :~) I remember hearing it as the kickoff for American Graffitti, and I bought the soundtrack the next day - the first record I ever bought (for myself). The list-owner wrote, and Paul pointed out: * Born the year "Rock Around The Closk" was the number 1 record in the USA Yeah, ya'd think that Connell guy would have employed the ol' spellchecker before sending out his "come and get it" message announcing the list. (it was pointed out to me a few minutes after I sent out my last email announcing the list last night...surely instills a lot of confidence in the list-owner with all the new people I exposed myself to ;-) and Bob retorted: * I remember hearing it as the kickoff for American Graffiti, and I bought * the soundtrack the next day - the first record I ever bought (for myself). I still love that flick. The era of the film was a little before my time (I was 7 in the summer of '62), but I of course grew up with all the music that was in it. Saw the movie like five times the first couple of weeks it was out (major crush on Cindy Williams, not to mention it was a fun film to be at). Have the soundtrack CD here with me at work right now, as a matter of fact. All the best Paul pdcmusic@freeuk.com PS Found these BH videos on this site (under H) http://www.dannysrecords.com/inventory/danvideo.html one with Alan Freed, Little Richard, The Treniers and others, another with The Platters, Freddie Bell & The Bellboys & others and yet another covering the British rockabilly revival. ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 14 Jan 2002 12:54:12 EST From: SCJoniGuy@aol.com Subject: Re: R&R: Wotsa closk? <> Never saw that...I DO have a live Comets LP though if that counts for anything. And I have seen some live footage of them, with the stand-up bass player doing all kinds of gymnastics with his big fiddle. As for American Graffitti, I think I saw it about 5 times that first week too. And I had the Cindy crush plus one on Candy Clark. And of course Suzanne Somers in that elusive red T-Bird! Wasn't one of the Beach Boys songs on that soundtrack actually a '63 song? A minor complaint, the flow of that soundtrack - and the usage of the songs in the film- was brilliant.
