Edie Carey
Armed
with her graceful, soaring voice, and her undeniable skill for carving
out everyday images in almost startling detail, Edie grabs hold of her
audiences and doesn't let go until she steps off the stage. While her songs
are what first draw listeners in, it's what she says in between them that
keeps them there. As much a part of her show as the music itself, Edie's
wry and often self-mocking humor, coupled with her ability to tell a great
story, leave her fans feeling as though they have just spent an evening
with a very close friend. You will find yourself crying from laughter
in between songs, and for a very different reason during the songs themselves.
We are pleased to welcome this GLAMA award-winning
singer/ songwriter to ectofest for the first time.

Mila Drumke Band
Mila
Drumke's "dark, dreamy voice" has earned her a steadily growing following
around her native Chicago, in her current home of New York City, and beyond.
In 1994 she penned "Someone", the theme song from the Sundance hit film
Go
Fish, and since has released an EP (Gathering My Name) and two
albums (Illinois and Hip To Hip, a collection of standards)
to widespread critical acclaim. Her performances in New York City
and in the Midwest have given her a well-deserved reputation as a bewitching
live performer. Mila is a perennial favorite among the ectophiles,
and we are happy to have her back for a repeat performance.
For more information, see the Little
Pro Records home page, and her entry at The
Ectophile's Guide To Good Music.
Trina Hamlin
Regular
viewers of the WB's Dawson's Creek may recognize Trina's distinctive,
powerful voice: her music has been featured on several episodes of the
show. Originally from Minnesota and now making her home in New York
City, this Berklee College of Music graduate has been wowing audiences
with her energetic performance style and engaging personality. This
summer, she has showcased at the Falcon Ridge Folk Festival to rave reviews.
You're sure to leave as a new fan, too.

Jargon Society

Danbury's own Jargon Society have been performing
locally for the past year. They a) perform original music;
b) contain a cello; c) are electric; d) have three songwriter/vocalists;
and e) are literary. They sing about "turtle kings, little birds,
vampires, pet pigs, trains, noncommital cowboys, and the sad and happy
truth."
A self-described "art-rock-pop" group, they will
be making their first appearance at ectofest.
For more information see jargonsociety.com.
Rachael Sage
New
Yorker Rachael Sage's press materials call her "a romantic for the twenty-first
century". The Ectophiles' Guide To Good Music calls her "a genuine
rising star". She is both, and more. Most often compared to
Ani DiFranco and Marc Cohn, Rachael shows her influences while also creating
a sound that is indisputably her own. Her most recent release, Painting
Of A Painting shows her continuing growth as a writer of songs with
thought-provoking lyrics over catchy, tuneful pop music with some unexpected
twists and turns going on beneath the surface.
An actress, choreographer, and ballet dancer in
addition to musical artist, Rachael is always a joy to see and hear in
live performance. Her recent European tours have added yet another
dimension to her shows. Even if you've never heard a note of her
music before, you're sure to enjoy her set. An ectophile herself,
we're proud to have her back at ectofest.

Ectophiles' Guide To Good Music.
Molly Zenobia
A
college senior majoring in music, Molly Zenobia has been compared to Portishead,
Dido, Paula Cole, Sarah McLachlan, Fiona Apple, and Tori Amos. Her
vocalizations have been called gorgeous and intoxicating; her musicianship
masterful; her writing and arranging, ground-breaking. She will be
joined by her band, and we're pleased to introduce her to you at ectofest.
